A meta strategy for electronic commerce: a twin level framework

Published: 15 August 2005 Publication History

Abstract

This paper outlines a framework for developing strategy for e-commerce ventures which should lead to profitable and sustainable businesses. It highlights a number of guidelines which should inform strategy development and offers two levels of potential performance. For those seeking to find a profitable niche in a particular sector, the level one (lower speed) meta strategy will suffice. For those hoping to dominate their chosen sector, the level two (high speed) meta strategy will be called for. These guidelines can be thought of as encapsulating some of the knowledge needed to make effective decisions about strategy. They can help managers compensate for some of their misconceptions and misinterpretations.
