ABSTRACT

Dynamic wireless networks, and especially mobile ad hoc networks, have imposed new constraints regarding the design and the implementation of service-oriented middleware platforms dedicated to mobile computing. Indeed, from now, these platforms must be able to capture the context in which they operate in order to provide the services they host with an abstraction of their running context, and to notify them of the variations occurring in this context. These middleware platforms must also implement communication means enabling services to support the frequent and unpredictable connection disruptions. In this paper, we present the design and the implementation of a service-oriented middleware platform capable of environmental context introspection and of delay-tolerant asynchronous communications.
