ABSTRACT
The present study proposes to explore the developmental stage of intercultural awareness in netizens among Spanish college students. Immersed in the 21st century global information and communication technology boom, young people have been gradually making online socializing an essential part of their everyday life. It is thought that their perception of cultural others may somehow be influenced in terms of their habit of connecting to virtual social networks. At the same time, this study also seeks to observe how conceptions of "foreigner" vs. "immigrant", commonly used to regard minorities in EU societies, may affect their intercultural sensitivity about minority others. For both research purposes, a survey based on questionnaires was conducted with the participation of 398 college students.
