ABSTRACT
This paper presents a novel approach to solve the problem of reducing delays in toll plazas. Causes of delay in manual toll plazas are lane selected by the driver, time taken to pay the toll and efficiency of toll collectors. The proposed system uses mobile crowd sensing and crowdsourcing to help traveller swiftly pass through toll plazas by minimizing the delay. The system functions on internet-independent ad-hoc Wi-Fi connectivity to crowd sense the time spent by travellers in tollbooths and crowdsources Quality of Experience to effectively suggest the fastest tollbooth in toll plazas. The system also prepares travellers for tolling at toll plazas well ahead, by providing advance toll information.
