ABSTRACT
We performed two experiments using a prototype of the head-up display (HUD) by CyberNavi (Pioneer Corp., Japan). The HUD is expected to reduce traffic accidents, as it reduces the visual confirmation time by half, as compared with conventional navigation systems. We discuss the safety and efficacy of the HUD from a physiological optics standpoint.

Driving simulator study of driver behavior while using head-up display
SA '15: SIGGRAPH Asia 2015 Head-Up Displays and their ApplicationsWe developed head-up display (HUD) in the AIST driving simulator. The information on the HUD is displayed on the front screen using an additional projector that is mounted on the roof of the vehicle cabin. The projection range covers the entire ...
Head-up display for motorcycle navigation
SA '15: SIGGRAPH Asia 2015 Head-Up Displays and their ApplicationsIn this paper, we describe a navigation system for motorcycle using the technology of head-up display. While there are various navigation system products for automobiles, motorcyclist has issues in using currently provided navigation system. It is known ...
Distractive or Supportive -- How Warnings in the Head-up Display Affect Drivers' Gaze and Driving Behavior
ITSC '15: Proceedings of the 2015 IEEE 18th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation SystemsUrban areas expose drivers to a lot of challenges (e.g., many kinds of distracting stimuli and road users) and critical situations, increasing the probability of driver errors. Therefore the accident rate in urban areas is quite high and driver ...
