We refer to voice specifically rather than speech because we are interested in the role of all manner of features of sequentially organized utterances, including a wide range of phenomena that tend to be ignored in existing speech recognition systems, such as pauses, prosody, etc. In fact, the use of speech in speech technology represents an analysis of voice, selecting certain vocal features than then "count" as meaningful in the course of interaction.
