An investigation into the existence of subgroup concept in information systems personnel management

ABSTRACT

IS/DP department consists of managers and their subordinates. IS development projects involve a group of IS personnel consisting of and its members. This paper examines the supervisory relations by means of subgroup concepts developed in behavioral sciences. The study finds that in IS units in a large federal agency examined here managers differentiate members into subgroup.
