ABSTRACT
Three dimensional image reconstruction from cryo-electron micrographs allows the capsid structures of icosahedral viruses to be studied. The most computationally demanding stages of the reconstruction process are those that find and refine the orientations of the virus particles. We have devised and implemented parallel solutions to the problem of determining these orientations. By enabling determination of the orientations of far more particles than previously had been possible, parallel processing methods have contributed to improvements in the quality of recent reconstructions.

Fingerprint orientation field reconstruction by weighted discrete cosine transform
Orientation field represents the topological structure of the interleaved ridge and valley flows in fingerprint images. Although a number of methods have been proposed for orientation estimation, reliable computation of orientation field is still a ...
Combining weighted linear project analysis with orientation diffusion for fingerprint orientation field reconstruction
This paper presents a novel algorithm for reconstructing the fingerprint orientation field (FOF). The basic idea of the algorithm is to reconstruct the FOF by combining weighted linear project analysis with orientation diffusion. We first compute the ...

Commercial anti-virus scanners are generally signature based, that is, they scan for known patterns to determine whether a file is infected. To evade signature-based detection, virus writers have employed code obfuscation techniques to create ...
