Abstract

The papers in this volume were presented at the 19th Annual ACM Symposium on Computational Geometry, held June 8-10, in San Diego, California (USA), as part of the Federated Computer Research Conference (FCRC 2003). The symposium included research papers of both an applied and a theoretical nature, as well as a video review. The symposium was sponsored by SIGACT and SIGGRAPH, two of the Special Interest Groups of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).This year the symposium received 118 submissions in response to the Call for Papers. The overall quality of the submissions was quite high, and the committee had a hard time limiting the selection for presentation at the symposium and inclusion in these proceedings to 42 papers. The papers generally represent preliminary results of ongoing research. It is expected that most papers will eventually appear in a more polished and complete form in refereed journals. The program committee is very grateful to the people who helped review the submissions. They often gave substantial and specific comments, many of which were forwarded to the authors to help them improve their papers. These reviewers are listed on page x.In addition to the paper submissions, there we 12 submissions in response to the Call for Videos and Multimedia, of which 9 were accepted. For the first time, it was not only possible to submit video, but also other forms of multimedia such as applets and PowerPoint animations. These proceedings contain a short description of each of the accepted contributions. Furthermore, the accepted contributions were collected onto a DVD, which was distributed among the attendees of the symposium.
