ABSTRACT
This paper describes the experiences at a medium-sized public teaching university in establishing an Academic Computing Center distinct from an existing Administrative Data Processing Center. The computer facilities were provided by a multi-institution time-sharing network. The steps involved and the lessons learned are presented as a case study which may be helpful to others considering this change.
