ABSTRACT

Web services represent the new methodological and technological challenge in the area of Web-based systems, but they raise problems of discovery, interoperability, security. In this paper we address the problem of Web service interoperability, proposing a Digital Library system that allows for the integration of services offered by different providers. Farthermore, the services provided to the Digital Library user community can be customized according to user profiles. The proposed system represents a prototype example of a service-oriented integration architecture dynamically evolving as new services become available to be integrated.
