Published: 15 August 2005 Publication History

Abstract

In 2002, SDB and Hi Sun signed a ten year 0.3 billion RMB disaster backup outsourcing contract[1]. This is the first main function outsourcing in bank industry of China. Due to the long-term, large amount and high risk, the outsourcing relationship contains high uncertainty. This is not only a relationship of market-type outsourcing, but also that of partnership outsourcing. Because the market-type relationship is based on price control, it can not deal with high uncertainty and implement sound control[2]. In this case, the outsourcing relationship of SDB and Hi Sun must establish partnership and introduce trust control. This case study analyzes the background of SDB and Hi Sun disaster backup outsourcing contract, the outsourcing proposal, the establishment of partnership and the performance of the partnership.
