TAP: visual analytics on surface computers

Published: 23 November 2009 Publication History

Abstract

In this demo we present TaP, a gesture driven visual analytics application for the exploration of vast amounts of multidimensional data. Using multitouch gestures, users can intuitively interact with the system to look at data under different perspectives, modify visualisations in different ways and ultimately unearth insights hidden inside the data. Using interactive tabletops, the system also enables multiple users to collaboratively analyse data in seperate charts on the screen. The application also integrates stacked half-pie menus, a new approach for navigating in deeply nested hierarchic data structures, specifically designed for the use on interactive tabletops.
