The e-waste impact

Published:17 November 2009Publication History

ABSTRACT

The e-services have gained a wide range of attention and became an indispensable part of the majority of people and nations' life and living. New technology is constantly emerging making that old working gadget no longer desirable. On the other hand, this revolution has contributed positively to the production of large quantities of electrical/electronic waste known as (e-waste). This negative side of the e-revolution in general has not gained much attention or to say that it is neglected by most of the people and nations alike. E-waste is the fastest growing part of the waste stream. If not disposed properly, its harm can not be neglected. This paper discusses the e-waste from its generation phase to treatment and its effect on the environment.
